Installing a new Tach

I am installing a new tachometer and I don't know which wire on the coil is the negative lead, is it the black and yellow wire or the orange and white one, my bike is a 1999 model.

Part of learning about this site and learning how to work on your bike is knowing where to look.

In the Technical Section of this forum is a Index with Links.  If you go to the electrical section you can find the wiring diagrams.

The yellow and black wire goes to the ignitor control.  The orange and white wire goes to the ignition and is the power source.

You need to connect to the yellow and black wire.
