Harley Dyna muffler install

Well I put a dyna muffler on today. I used a Ryca exhaust adapter with the offset in it to straighten out the muffler. The picture of the Ryca is a little deceiving. The part that fits on the header pipe is only one inch so it won't slide all the way to the raised ring on the pipe.
It actually kicks the muffler out a little too much but it seems to work well.
Sounds good. Has a really deep tone.

Not as nice as the one Dave made for his bike but works.

I have a heat shield ordered to cover the gap.
Had to add some washers to take up the gap on the end bolt.

I just got back from running some errands all over town. It sounds good. There is a small pop every now and then when letting off the gas and changing gears but not loud. It could have been doing that before but the stock muffler was so quiet I didn't notice it. I hear exhaust now instead of the engine.
It also seems to run a little stronger when I get on it. Overall a good mod.

No Duuhhh! Cool innitt? Got a prettier exhaust, ditched a few pounds, better sounding bike AND its a bit peppier!
Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, this is the best mod I know of for performance,
The verslagen is the smartest mod of any,.. It keeps the engine safe from death should someone fail to understand the signs of a cam chain getting slack,

Nice neat job. I like those small saddle bags, they look good on the bike.

I have the same identical bike Snowman, except I put the small stock sissy bar and rack on mine and have no bags....and I too want to do that mod. How much was it (if you don't mind me asking) and where are you getting the heat shield from? Did you re-jet?

The dyna muffler was $35 including shipping from ebay, also came with the muffler clamp. The part # for the muffler is 65747-94. The Ryca adapter was $45.

The heat shield was $17.99 from motorcycle superstore.

Right now I have one size up on the main jet, 147.5. I have raised the needle up .030. The pilot is stock at 152.5 with the fuel screw turned out 2-3/4 turns. Elevation is around 500 feet. Has a few subdued pops but not bad.

Yeah, but Dave probably knows more about this than I do.
He made the adapter on his bike. I do have three feet of 1-3/4 stainless tubing. I was going to try and make one but took the easy way out and bought one from Ryca.

I just got back from a nice little ride and I can say this is the best thing I have done to the bike.

Have to agree Apache, I did mine a couple months ago and I love the difference in pep. Quicker out of the hole, and pulls harder in all gears.
The only drawback is that I'm using more fuel. I used the stock heat shield. Please post a pic after you put the shield on. I might want to buy one too!

You can always go to a local muffler shop with a pipe bender and have them make a 10 degree adaptor on the cheap too. Most folks on the forums pay around $15 on average it seems, I really lucked out and my local guy only charges $10 each time for a 15" intermediate pipe with two bends.

ApacheSnow.
The installation and muffler look great. The RYCA instructions for the Cafe' conversion show that they cut off some of the header to allow the adapter to slide all the way up to the ring. It really isn't necessary to do that for the DYNA installtion on a stock bike, and the heat shield will cover all that section of the exhaust and hide it all.
