I adjusted my valves last night. The whole process from start to finish too almost 2 hours. Not a bad deal at all. Although, the intakes are rather a pain to get.

Exhausts were at about .005 now they are .004. Intakes were between .009 and .010. Now they are at .004.

I have been noticing as the temps got warmer, more valve noise. Was perfectly quiet riding in 40 deg weather.

Now, it sounds like a nice little sewing machine. No more bad tick..tick noises. Cheesy

If I could just find that vibration induced rattle and that whine.

I found one source of vibration. The pad on the sissy bar. I think the belt guard is vibrating a little sometimes too.

Is the headlight bucket sort of a 'buzzing' rattle? If it's rattling, what's the fix? Is there something in tech about the headlight rattle?

The speedo rattles occasionally. But very occasionally so I'm living with that for the moment. That was the first rattle I found and since it's not very often, I haven't done anything about that one.

Anybody know about the whine? It sounds like the road whine you get from some car tires. I hear it from around 10 to about 30 mph. I have pulled the clutch and let the engine idle. Whine is still the same. It seems to be speed dependent rather than rpm related. I can't even come close to pinpointing a location for it. It's just there.

Posts: 1217 Riverside, CA Gender:	Re: Valve adjustment Reply #5 - 06/03/13 at 14:43:36 I just found out during my valve adjustment last week that the keeper for the speedo cable at the instrument panel came off and had slid down to rattle against any and all obstacles. Surprised the cable stayed in for however long it was unsecured.....

It does squeak under acceleration / load but not during normal riding. Belt tension is great using the 90º twist method. I will check the alignment. Thanks.
