Checking Battery level and water (Read 84 times)

Dodgeman YaBB Newbies Offline Posts: 44 Wallaceburg Ontario, Canada	Checking Battery level and water 05/29/13 at 07:27:00 I tried looking at the battery level, to see if I need to add some distilled water, but could not see it. What is all involved to get the battery out, so I can get a better look see?

Be good to build a pigtail for hookin a float charger up.

It is not as easy as it should be. Remove the tool box cover and the tool roll. Remove the bracket holding the battery in place (three screws, one on top and two on bottom). The bracket into which the tool box cover latches will come off, too. Remove the seat to get access to the screw securing the left-side cover. Remove that cover to get access to the battery's negative terminal. Remove the negative cable from the battery. Slide the battery to the right, remove the positive cable, then remove the battery. The vent tube can be removed from the battery, or can be removed with the battery (your choice).

Eschew obfuscation.

The pigtail for connecting a battery maintainer is a good idea, except that it makes forgetting to check the battery water way too easy.

The older bikes were much easier working on the battery. I thought that I'd have to take parts off to get at it better, but I wanted to check here first!!!
