Recently bought 2000 ls650 with 3k miles on it.

Replacing the air filter the K&N filter ( SU-6595)

It fits kinda loose is this normal.

2 other things also.

not sure if it is normal or not but noticing a tapping sound at higher rpm's
nothing at lower rpm's

and since i have installed the K & N filter i have a nasty afterfire instead of the managable little poof after the ride.

This is the stock airbox drop-in filter... right?

It might seem looser cause it has a softer seal.

On mine I made a clip that pulled it in on the install side.

You need to richen up your idle screw abit, it is a freer flowing filter.

sorry m a mechanical noob.

would richen mean tighten the screw more to increase the throttle at idle speed or loosen it up lowering the throttle. as of right now it is about midset on the screw.

That's the idle speed screw...
Versy is talking about the idle mix screw... (it's hidden)...
