I used to be on http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/ when I had my 1999 VN800A and then a 2005 VN800 Classic. It used to be a pretty good forum, but I haven't been on it since I wrecked on the Classic in 2008. I know a lot of the regulars had left there at one point. BUT, there was no better site for Vulcan 800s when I had mine.

How do you like the 800B? And if it hasn't been done yet, the bike works better with a 130/90-16 front, 150/80-16 rear. Mine had 130s on both ends, buyer post crash put on a rear 150 and a new steering head bearing and never had issues with it.

800A (21/16 wheels) also benefits with a 150/80 rear. I put 44K miles on an 80/90-21 150/80-16 Dunlop 404 tire set in 18 months with my 800A.

He must be a seriously small rider. If mine was back together I'd do that swap in a heartbeat IF his bike is an 800A. The B has a smoother ride, the A has a better seat and superior handling. The A is 468 pounds wet, the B around 480 pounds wet, according to the Caterpillar scale at he truck stop I weighed both mine at, my Savage as it sits is 292 pounds wet.

If his bike is a B, the trade would take 2 or 3 heartbeats... 800 Drifter he'd get the Savage and some cash in under a heartbeat, Savages are a dime a dozen, 800 Drifters are getting hard to find.

My Savage has always been considered my "cute little toy motorcycle", not as anything serious. At 6'2" 230 (or more in the winter) it is just too little. Even with all the mods over the years.
