Right Handle Switch Wiring
10/03/12 at 15:08:19
The Right hand handle switch only has 6 wires;
1)Yellow/White
2)Yellow/Green
3)Orange
4)Orange/White
5)Grey
6)White
The Wiring loom has a 7 point plug with 7 wires;
1)Yellow/White
2)Yellow/Green
3)Orange
4)Orange/White
5)Grey
6)White/Black
7)Orange/Blue
1-5 match up nicely but what I am left with is 3 wires. Does the White wire from the switch connect to the White/Black on the loom? And what about the Orange/Blue?
I have brought a new 8 point connector but need help with these 3 wires please.

What year is the switch housing from and what year is the harness from? I see 2 different options on wiring when it comes to the switch housings that have the hazards on them.

we don't have a light on/off switch, which is where your extra wires are for.
later models have a hazard light.
Please show us the resulting wiring, I might mod mine the same.

Adhere to the wiring for the main harness and adapt the switch to it, don't worry so much about colors matching. I've found that the colors of wires change at the plugs or even right inside the harness - and sometimes wires just end at the plug with nothing to mate to. That's what happens as revisions are made throughout production. Not much you can do.

Some of the first 5 wires must match cos when I married them up color for color the lights worked.

I didn't even notice you bought a switch from a different bike. Of course the wires aren't gonna match.
Seriously, stop trying to match colors because obviously it's not gonna happen. Just match functions. The headlights aren't controlled by the right switch anyways so if they're turning on/off with the right switch, something is clearly wrong.

cavi, give the guy some slack, he's from the under world and laws vary. They may allow the lights to be off while riding.
Who knows, this functionallity may be built into the harnace.
