Cold weather gear for South Tx

Looking for recomendations for gloves and pants specifically. I would prefer over pants that I can remove before entering the plant I work at.

I don't have to deal with real cold just mostly down into the 40's with a week or two dropping below that.

40* & 70 MPH is seriously cool. Im pretty fond of insulated coveralls,& chaps on the outside. I open up a pistol carrier, so the plastic outside is out & the fake fur is against my chest. The one that fits the 8" 357 pretty well covers my chest & shuts off what cold air leaks thru the coveralls.

I tried leather chaps for the first time last year...  they do work...

I just have to get over that "Village People" feeling, when I'm wearing them... Huh...

40° ain't that cold, but of course it depends for how long.  My commute is only a half hour.

I wear a pair of over pants, but on occasion a second pair of jeans is enough.

and insulated gloves do fine.  gantlet style if you got a breeze up your sleeve.

Haven't seen them in 6 months, no idea who made them.   Cool

the stupidity of the people I work with precludes being able to wear chaps, sad but true.  I have a set of carhartt coveralls I can use just need guantlets then I guess.

A full-size windshield helps a lot.

I have this same pair of army-issued gortex overpants, and they stop EVERYTHING!  They're meant for extreme cold weather.  I've also worn them in the rain during recent warm weather (80*) and they didn't get unbearably hot.  If you have a surplus store, see if they have anything.  Might not be fashionable, but it'd be easy to find a similar older pair for <$50.

Don't forget a fleece scarf... (really helps air leaks around the neck and warms the chest)...
Americans don't wear scarves much...  they are very efficient... check 99 cent stores... Wink...

I ride in the snow even....if it snows while I'm at work, which it did a few times last winter. I have a first gear thermal (one piece) suit which I get hot wearing, its that good. Mostly I use a pair of good rain pants, as over pants, in the Pacific Northwest rain, and put an extra pair of sweat pants on, over my work jeans, and I'm good to go. Easy on/off, and butt protection from water too!

Some people buy a balaclava, I made mine from a T-shirt, grabbed a sewing machine & sewed a line in it  where it fit over my head & cut the rest off, Man, that made a huge difference.,

This I have already purchased.  Smiley

The goretex pants were the direction that I was leaning for leg protection,

I'm just wondering what are decent brand guantlet style gloves to purchase.

What with it bein' South Texas, I'm surprised someone didn't post the famous picture of Ursula Andress in the white bikini.

I'd look for clothing used by snowmobilers, although that sort of thing might be difficult to locate in the South. I figure if it'll keep a snowmobiler warm, it'll work just as well for a motorcyclist. Whatever you get, make sure it has a flap either over or under the zipper in front, to keep the cold wind from getting to your chest.
