Footpeg Fallout.....
09/30/12 at 17:39:10

Went to head out on the bike to run some erands, not five feet from starting off my right footpeg drops out on me   Shocked    Apparently the original owner who "lightly put the bike down" must have damaged the right peg and just hammered a piece of sawed off hex key in there to hold it temporarily and forgot about it.  So happy it happened at home and not on the interstate  Huh

Sigh..... I keep running into things that make me slap my forehead and ask myself "why did he do that?!"  Guess I'll be getting new footpegs soon..... LOL

Or, you could drill & tap the top plate & run a bolt in, figure the length that holds it at the angle you want & shorten the bolt to accomplish that. A hex head would look funky, but a pan head would be okay,.

It looks kinda' short... (or maybe it's just the picture)... Huh...

I agree. It does look like a rear. I tried to do that to replace my bent one and it also fell.

I wouldn't doubt at all that it's a rear one, every time I start working on something or go over the bike I find something else he did that I just can't explain  heh.

Well it wasn't a rear peg, he must have bent part of the extension from the front right peg then decided to grind the rest of it off and just shove that piece of hex key in there loose  Huh   Looked around the web no replacement footpeg to be had anywhere that I could find, so maybe I'll just have something welded on there where the hook was till I find some pegs I like LOL.

Thats gonna cost some $$$, & how will you know its the right length? If youll drill a hole & do that Bolt/Tap trick, you can set it just like ya want it,,A little Thread Lock & youre in bidniss, Shouldnt spend $5.00..

Sorry JOG I guess I wasn't clear.  I didn't mean to have something welded on the same as the hook that was on it stock but rather like the hex key that was on the flat end of the peg that stopped it from traveling, just not lossely hanging out in there like it was LOL.  I know a guy that works over at Michael Waltrip Racing who welds stuff on the cheap for me, he redid a water outlet freeze plug on an aluminum manifold for $25 last time. Something like this might only cost me a cup of coffee  Wink

Well I found some pegs I like so I just ordered two pairs of them instead of messing with the broken one.  $16.99 a pair from Debrix Cycles.

I keep looking at this having replaced a couple pegs now. They wouldn't look like they would bend on a light drop but then I'd rather have the peg bend than it's attachment point or the frame...
