Stripped Head on Fuel Mix Screw
09/26/12 at 15:51:54

I am replacing the Fuel Mix Screw because the person who had it before me stripped the slot on the head of the screw and it is difficult for a srewdriver to turn it.

How should I remove it? I am having a hard time backing it out and the head is stripping more and more.  I am thinking I might have to use a tap or drill it.

The guy at the dealer found two diagrams 1995 and 1996 that have two different part numbers for the screw.  The diagram for the 1995 looks like it is vertical and the 1996 looks horizontal where mine is.  The part descriptions are different also the 1995 says 1.1/8 inch and the 1996 shows 1.1/16 inch.

Is the drawing just off on the 1995?

Are the two screws different?

Linked below are the diagrams.

this has come up before by someone who got the wrong one.
can't tell how to order the right other than to take it out and compare.

start by making sure you got the right year, check the VIN number.

Ok so I gave the dealer the vin number and we decided to order the one from the 1995 ( matching my vin 1995).  I think the diagram just shows the screw and it is not intended to indicate that it is installed vertical.  They all go in the same place right. ( horizontal)
