Plastic "Chrome" detailing question
09/11/12 at 14:22:04
Hey guys, Im currently in the process of restoring my first motorcycle which is a 96 Savage. I am obviously trying to salvage as many of the parts I have that are good to save costs. The previous owner did some spray painting on the fenders and tank, during this he got some black spray paint on the plastic "chrome" around the brake light assembly. Does anybody know of a good way to remove this without damaging the finish? Will paint thinner or stripper ruin it? That seems the most effective way, but I wanted to ask before I ruined it throwing thinner on it! lol.
Thanks in advance for any input guys!

chrome, even plastic chrome is a pretty slick surface.
I'd get a piece of plastic and see if it'd scrape off.
and yeah, don't recall which "fluid" it was, but there's something that'll clean it right off.

Thanks for the tip verslagen... i happened to find another way tho lol. Right after i posted this i remembered having some 0000 steel wool... I grabbed that and some chrome polish and went over it lightly... after 10 minutes or so, all the paints gone and it gave it a nice polish all at once!
