Risers

I have a 2005 S40 with the really long (4"?) pull back risers and drag bars, as pictured below... I'd like to see about trying to push the handlebars forward and perhaps down a bit.  What are the shortest risers that you can put on the S40 with the stock drag bars and not interfere with the tank...

More importantly, does anyone have any advice on where to find a shorter set of risers that will fit the handlebars?

Stock risers on older bikes are basically "zero" inches high.  A 1.5 inch spacer will make drag bars clear by 1/2 inch or so.  Might have to cheat a little by turning your bars forward a little.  I have "broomsticks on mine and the controls are turned a little to clear.  I have a set of the OEM risers that you can have for $15.00. I will pay shipping. You will have to get or make your own spacers which is the best way to go for you can make them just as long as you want.

If you just turn your risers around that will push them forward a little bit.

The only issue I might have with that is fabricating the spacer, I've seen a couple of spacers that others have created here on the site and they all seemed to require tools that I don't have access to.

Wouldn't that look odd, and perhaps feel odd?  I've just made a couple of image searches and can't find a photo of anyone having done that.

Excellent... thanks for the info!

Johnny57, I'll keep your risers in mind if just reversing the stock risers don't work out, thanks for that too.

Blue Collar Bobbers provide a 1.5 inch spacer with their dragbar kit to add to the stock risers and they clear.  Some go find an appropriate chrome socket and drill them out.  Some go to a "Harley" shop and find something.  ALL kinds of bung and spacer kit selections on the internet.  1.5 inch spacer, zero height on the risers, longer bolts from a hardware store and you are there.

Reversing the stock risers made a huge difference, and doesn't look too bad... the reach is almost exactly where I wanted it and now my mirror isn't completely useless, which is good.  Cheesy

I didn't realize until I had mine disassembled that the head of the riser was a separate piece, which would allow you to use your own custom length tube if you made one.  I like how the reversed stock ones are working out, but might try that at some point.

I, at one time, was looking for a set of 3" pullback risers. Never did come up with any. My old '87 came with the 1" straight up risers, and buckhorns. I now have custom 3" straight up risers with buckhorns. It got me the height I was looking for, but I wanted them an inch or 3 further away. Thus the reversed 3" pullback risers. I would have done exactly what Ripnsht did.
