Very small oil leak
07/29/12 at 04:19:26

I have a leak that seems to be coming fromthe left side of the bike, down where the belt meets the motor. It seems to be coming from a very tiny hose looking think. It usually drips like a drop or two from below the battery box. Any body have any ideas? I'll uploa pictures later

You wouldn't be talking about the airbox vent tube that is supposed to be there (but is supposed to have a rubber plug in it which stays in there until you pull the plug intentionally to drain the airbox while you are changing your oil).

I don't think I ever drained the airbox on my last oil change.... That might be it. How do I go upon doing that? Any Instructions?

I have the same issue with my 87 Savage. I haven't found out what the problem is, so if you figure it out let me know.

You have 2 hoses in that area, one larger diameter one with a rubber plug in it that you should open at each oil change and allow to drain while the oil is draining.   This one goes up to your air box and it dumps the blow by juice that comes down the puke tube from the head that is accumulated in the air box while waiting for you to dump it by pulling the rubber plug.

The other one is the battery vent tube, what drips from it is diluted sulphuric acid and water.   This tube is always open, it vents pressure from inside the battery and must stay open at all times.

And Hydrogen Gas, OF,, you forgot to mention the hydrogen gas thats in that tube. Also, I will take this opportunity to point out that Hydrogen Gas isnt just flammable, its Explosive, & the LEAST little spark will aggravate it. & Your Battery will Explode & make a mess,, but dont plug it,,
