Gear shifter play? (Read 81 times)

Gender:	Gear shifter play? 06/13/12 at 15:55:23 Getting ready to ride 2000 miles so I was going over the bike. Went down to try and slide the rubber off the gear shift and flip it around, and the gear shift has a lot of play in it. Is this normal? I looked at the micro fiche and it appears it is just a cir clip that holds it in.

It does wiggle a little, side to side, and up and down, but I'd say not more than maybe 1/8 to 1/4" of movement. Hope its normal. Good luck on your ride.

Its just a tube on a pin, held by an E-Clip.. No precision at all,it flops around quite a bit.Nooo Problem.. Its a solid connection at the transmission,

DJ since the bikes a 5-sp you are required to have a 5th opinion so you get mine!!!

A little sloppy "ain't no big deal" Just be sure to have "spares" in your saddle bags!

Yellow 1996 Jetted and Dunstall exhaust. Dakota Chubby Bags, Memphis Slim shield,Tank Bib from?? Seat riser mod. More to come!
