Thrush glasspack
06/05/12 at 10:01:03

I installed a Thrush glasspack #24210. I have a temporary clamp on the rear until I get it all sorted out. It is loud. Not as loud as no muffler. Not as loud as the Dyna muffler with the baffle plug thing removed. But still a little too loud. It has a very deep tone, which is awesome! I am heading out to grab a baffle for it to tame it a bit. Here is what it looks and sounds like for now.

I stuck a 4" universal $5 baffle in it. It got much better. It did lose some of the deepness of the tone. I am going to try a couple different baffles to see what I like the best. I still need to get a tip on the end and wrap the header and tip with an exhaust Ace bandage. Then I think the exhaust will be done.

3.9 pound shipping weight. Not bad. HD muffler comes in around 6.5 pounds shipping weight IIRC.

In the exit. It attaches with a screw. This is what I used: http://www.jpcycles.com/product/4410022

I like that, and sounds great. What size jets are you using?I've been thinking about an H-D muffler but a glasspack and header tape might be the way I go.Please post pics when you get it wraped.

Well, I removed the Thrush. Sad

The fiberglass seems to have burned out prematurely and it got really loud! I believe it is because I was running way lean and had increased heat, but it is possible that it just can't handle the higher temps of a bike exhaust. Before I removed it, I did put a slash cut chrome tip on the exit. It was looking pretty good, I think. I ordered my jet kit from Lancer and reinstalled my Dyna muffler. I guess that is what I will keep for now.

Running lean decreases the heat.
