cleaning up corroded aluminum..

Has anyone used an ultrasonic cleaner with good results to remove corrosion on aluminum?
Im currently working on sanding my bits down with progressively finer sand paper up to 3000 grit to remove the corossion and gain back some luster and was thinking one of these majiggies might make that finger breaking work a little easier.

Ultasonic cleaners may remove the white fuzzy parts of the corrosion, but will do nothing for polishing or removing the gray corrosion from the aluminum. You even have to be careful with products like Purple Power or the Green cleaner and degreasers as some of them are corrosive to aluminum and will make them dull and gray if you leave them in very long.
You can use the vibratiing tumblers to clean corroded aluminum. You need to use a ceramic media to get the worst of it off, then switch to a corn cob media for polishing.

Thanks guys, Ill try that scotchbrite buisness. Im working on my triple tree and related bits. The PO had this thing outside and we live by the coast so you can imagine the build up. Next project is to work on the engine case, which im not looking foward to but should be worth it.
