Not going into gear

I just replaced cam chain ect.... Bolted everything back up but i'm not able to shift it into gear by hand with the shifter lever.  I'm sure it's a simple mistake I must have made somewhere just don't know where.

Rock the bike back and forth to line up your dogs.

about as clear as ect?

Ok, I've still got it on the bench.  Ect.... standard broken cam chain replacement resulting in removing everything to put it on.  Guess I'll button her back up and toss it back on the bike and see rocking it back and forth works...  Thanks

OK, just rotate the drive pulley while operating the gear lever
