newbie with a bobber project
02/03/12 at 09:59:23

hi im new to the site, and i would like to share my current project. i got this bike as a trade on an old car i had. its a 2011 s40 that was started by the previous owner which included the rear fender mod, the flat black paint on the tank and lowering of the front end. what i did to it was remove the air box, cone filter, re jetted carb, painted black rims, flipped the risers forward and tilted the bars so i wouldnt feel so cramped while riding LOL.

i have plans to extend the rear swing arm a few inches and a chain conversion to gear for some long decent speed cruising.

another thing is that at 3k miles it has a bad oil leak from the head, i havent figured out if its the plug or the actual head gasket.  Undecided

I like this!!! Disagree on flat black, but that's a matter of taste. Very well done!!!

I can't tell for sure from the picture, but is the bottom half of the cylinder fins painted black? Cause if they're not, you don't have a 2011 motor in that rig.

actually thats a lil bit of oil from the leak i have mixed in with some good ol' desert dust from cruising around all day.

and as far as the flat black, it wasnt my choice, the previous owner did it, i am actually thinking of doing the tank and fender in a creme color with a candy rootbeer paint.

so i decided to stuff a 150/90 on the rear, since i was running a vintage looking 130/80 rear tire off a lil kicker bike , i figured this suited my style a lot better, hopefully i can get the rear fender brackets worked out so i can use my old fender.

Good Choice man, hope you can work out the fender issues cause that tire is a keeper. When you make that 15 inch rear wheel as big as possible these bikes look a lot better.
