Welcome to the savage world.
Hard to tell w/o more info. Any signs of previous damage? Forks straight?
I can definately say it should feel the same turning left or right. (if its not you)
How many miles? Any recent changes....ie new tires, brakes etc....

Please explain "gyro effect". Do you mean it turns easier to the left?
Possibly more fork oil in one side than the other, broken fork damper, could be loose spokes, wheel alignment, hard to tell without more info.

When I 1st got my '88, 1st ride felt like I was going to fall over in the turns. Turned out to be the stem bearings. The gease had hardened and once I cleaned it out and polished up the races she was good as new.

remove tool box cover, and the plate behind it.
remove negative cable on the left side
then slide out battery to get to positive side.
check the water while you're at it.

If its the OEM battery junk it while you got it out and get a nice sealed gel battery to avoid later headaches.
