What type of seat do you have?
01/09/12 at 22:58:32
I have the OEM s40 seat and it is a pain in the butt. I am thinking about shelling out the moolah for an Airhawk air cushion, unless I spot a used Corbin on Ebay. I figure once I get Routy's Forward Controls installed, I will need a softer saddle for my straetched out glutes and coccyx. Any and all replies are welcome and appreciated.

I've tried a couple of things. I did the seat lift first, that helped. Then I changed to a sportster seat, that was better but not the ultimate fix. Last spring I bought a corbin, that was the answer I was looking for. I can now ride all day without the PIA that I had before. With the sportster seat, I was in pain in less than an hour. In my opinion, the corbin is the way to go (if you can afford it). Now I have to look for a replacement for the seat on my C50.

Memory foam on top of oe foam inside. I used 1 1/2". Cheap and it works fine after 10,000 miles.

Think I'll try out the 1" seat mod once I figure out what's going on with my front running light...

Anyone try one of those "Pillow top" s40 seats I see advertised on Ebay? There is one for $155.
I wish Mustang made a Fastback seat for the s40, I put one on my Vulcan and it is fabulously comfy.

I have a pillow seat its is narrower and pushes you about 1 1/2 inches forward, just like the Corbin seat does. I used it for about a thousand miles,Then went back to stock seat which I think is better.I didn't lift the front which would restrict you from moving around.

I wanted a Mustang too so I found a cheap one on eBay, $25 I think. It was for an older ironhead and looked the right shape. Well it didn't fit and I couldn't figure out a way to make it fit, so I took both it and my stock '06 seat apart and transferred the Mustang vinyl and padding to my stock seat pan. Voila! Well it wasn't quite that easy, i ended up taking it to a professional upholsterer to get it just right but he didn't charge me too much, so I am extremely happy with it. An option for you if you wanna do some work for it.
