Fit it all together nice and tight. Use the clamp(s) if necessary, to hold everything in alignment.
Weld the sucker!! Make it all one piece. No leaks. No coming apart.
The only downside it that it will be a pain if you have to do some work on something that needs clearance around the exhaust system. How often does THAT happen, though?

Yep its cracked.. good thing it's on the side facing bike and won't show if I get it welded...the crack doesn't go around any further... I'm beginning to think I should just start making my own exhausts...

Why not see what Seivert at Raask has to say about it?
Then go back to the idiot that put it on in the first place and raise h$ll.

My guess would be that too much strain was put on the header when the idiot installed it without the mounting bracket, pulling the exhaust too close to the bike.

I didn't drive it like that but for 30 minutes home...

It might have been split before you drove it home.

It wasn't because I checked it after re-installing it after that mechanic botched it... I didn't notice the leak until about 2 weeks ago... technically if you can see how the pipe is made it SHOULD have broken at the seam instead of where it cracked..
I always check my tires, oil, fuel, brakes, and exhaust before driving.. hopefully a $20 weld job and its fine.
