Obvious grounding issues
10/08/11 at 12:29:19

OK.  So cleaning up this bird's nest of a wire bundle that the previous owner made for me.

I have everything working and running like a top.  The only problem I am having is for my tail light/brake light.

I am running a 2 filament bulb with a side mounted tail light.  I am running my brown wire (positive) and utilizing the white with black wire for the grounding.

Yesterday everything was hooked up and working fine, but since tackling this section, I cannot get the lighting to work properly. I cannot even get the bulb to light up.

If I use the black with white wire, my bulb works but no brake indication.

Is it feasible to think that I could utilize both ground wires for proper function?  I am thinking that I will short it out.

Any suggestions?

the body of the tail/brake light is the ground, both wires coming out are hot. 1 for brake, 1 for tail light. at least thats how it is on my setup.

Usually on an aftermarket taillight there are a red and a black wire. Both are positive.(I THINK)Red is run(tail)and black is brake. The body of the light is the ground. If it's solid mounted you will already have your ground.
