How big a Bore?
09/17/11 at 18:33:30

Calling all Wickers and Hot-Rods; were I to punch out to a bigger piston, how big can I go without getting into paper-thin wall country?  I like the idea of upping the jug size, but I don't wanna smash my piston throught the cylinder either.

Any words of advice?

97mm it is, then. Thanks fellas!  What would that translate to in CC?

My current plan for the winter, outside of some pretty routine stuff (like the plug/cap leak and speedo rattle) is to punch and coat the bore, port and polish the head, possibly a valve job, get a 98mm Mikuni with a UFO and Dial-a-Jet, and finally grab some type of free-flowing exhaust (this is where I'm not settled on where I'm going; my exhaust knowledge is limited at best).  I was gonna try and get a Lancer Cam and Cable kit, but I don't know if he's still in that game...

I've been toying with a one-off header as well, but don't know if it's really needed or not.

Lookin' forward to it, I gotta say!  Not enough that I want winter here quicker, but enough to start saving up my nickels and dimes.

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, I'd love to hear 'em!

Would there be an issue with using the stock gasket on a 97mm?
