Big wheels...

Seen a trend of these big wheeled Sportsters in magazines lately. What's your opinion of them? Personally I don't care for them.

That's the first one I've seen. As a unique custom thing that looks pretty cool. Would I see myself on that bike? Negative.

Never have understood the whole large rim / skinny tire concept on 4 wheels let alone on 2 wheels now.  Maybe it's a generational thing... but definitely not for me.  Smiley

Id hate to see that in traffic.Im afraid Id have a wreck from laffing. I still giggle at some of these cars,, Why are people so wiling to buy a product that decreases the function o their vehicle?Wait,, what am I saying??,, Why do people wear pants that have to carry or theyll fall off?

When I hear people say

"How dumb do they think we are?" Talking about the politicians, I look at society & see lots o reasons or the politicians to believe they can get away with anything.. people are just dumb.

What I find ridiculous to the max is when they put those skinny wheels on Humvees, or other SUVs.

Do I think it looks badass? Yes.

Please inform me of why these wheels are bad? I would think in my uneducated opinion that larger wheels allows you to cover more distance faster and with less acceleration?

Ok maybe I sounded a bit sarcastic.. but seriously, what are the MAJOR drawbacks of having those rims/tires on that bike?

Okay,.. you seem to be seriously asking...

The air in your tires is the best shock absorption you have...
Sure , you have shocks, but what about the stuff below the shocks?...
Rims, spokes, wheel bearings, brakes...

These ultra-low profile tires don't have enough air to absorb shock... that shock is transferred to hard parts,... and hard parts tend to break when asked to absorb shock...
... if roads were smooth as glass... it wouldn't be a problem, but they ain't...
Wink...

As far as larger wheels raising gearing,... yes, they do... But if that's your goal, why put a low profile tire on the wheel?...
A bit less wheel, and a bit more tire, is more practical in the real world...

(Even worse in cars... big wheel, skinny tires, play hell with ball joints)...
