... (biker equivalent to pondering your navel,.. I suppose)...  Huh...

... anyway,...
I hate when I stop for gas,.. having to find a place to put the cap, while I fuel up...
Is there a hinge-top cap adapter,...  (I should invent one!... Hmmm?!)...

... secondly,... I hate having to get my key out to un-lock it...
(...as if anyone would bother to steal 2 gallons of gas)...
...and if they did,... wouldn't they just take it from the fuel line, instead of siphoning?...  Huh...
Is there a replacement, or conversion to keyless?... (I should invent that one, too!... double-Hmmm?!)...

... a keyless, hinged-top, direct replacement, gas cap!...
Life would be so easy...  Huh...

Now I like that idea cause it is a pain sometimes to find someplace to put the cap while you fill up but if you're going to invent a hinged cap, make one that can be keyed too.

Having a lock would deter some of the bike haters from dumping sugar in your tank while you're inside having a cool one (not that I'd ever do that.)

Takes some real premeditation,... and balls of steel... to walk by a bike with a cup of sugar, and stop to dump it in your tank...
(not gonna' say it never happens,... but,... Wow!  What are the odds?)... Grin...
...'sides,... that's what butt kickin's are for...

PS,... might be more effective to dump it in the oil anyway...
Never thought of that, huh?...
That'll be the vandals second option, when they see that your gas cap is locked...

(Ohhh!....... my next invention!,... the oil cap lock!).... Grin Grin Grin...

You're full of ideas and you could make a fortune on eBay selling them as long as you don't disclose your selling location as Land O'Lakes  Grin

Ponder how to stop mine from leaking. I've bought a new $75 gas cap. A while back I bought a thicker gasket from Bouletard. Its a long story but its a miracle I'm still here. The bike sat out in 90 degree sun right after I filled it up. When I fired it up and got in bumper to bumper traffic gas started spewing out of it like it was a high pressurised leak. It just wasnt my day to die or burn up.

Nope, just know of a certain seller who claims to be from the Land O' Lakes that keeps selling the information we give on this site for a profit on eBay  FlightSimShop

You sound like you were lucky. I have personally tried a few different washers as gaskets, to no avail  Undecided I will keep looking/trying until I find something that works right, until then I guess I just won't put quite as much in.

It was one of those situations. Serenity and I were coming home from the Dragon Trip last year. It was 95 in the shade. We gassed our bikes up and were getting ready to leave and this lady pulls up with no brakes on her van asking for help. Being the nice guys we are  Roll Eyes we werent gonna leave her stranded. The whole time we were working on her van my gas tank was cooking in the sun. You know th rest of the story.

I have been pondering the same thing my self since I got my bike.  I have to use a screw driver to open my gas cap as the lock portion is gone.

I can tell you from experience a new cap is $75. My old cap was OK, I was just trying anything to keep from blowing myself up.
