Actually, the new fender is about to go on, but I'm twitching to ride it.
In fact, I need to ride it to a friend's to finish the fender and lights.
He's two mi away. So, anyone know if its legal to ride in TN w just a plate on back?

I ended up rigging the brake light and plate to get to the shop. It didn't fly off and I did not see any cops. Kevin, my blacksmith friend took a cheap Northern Tool fender and went crazy on it. Side note: I want a plasma cutter, they freaking rock.
The end result was not exactly what I was expecting, but I really like what he did. Kevin does really expensive iron work for a living after ditching his Silicon Valley gig years ago and making his hobby his day job (and relocating among the hillbillies). I said "can you make a fender outa this" and the metal work artist came out and took over. I tried to stay out of the way. VERY custom result made for the bullet signals and the cheezy, cliche, I-don't-care-cuz-it's-my-bike, iron cross tail light.
You may roll your eyes. I dig it

Thanks, guys. A guy I work with has restored a lot of bikes- Triumphs, HDs, etc. He gave me a lot of $hite about the tail light, but had to admit he liked the end look.
I need to tackle the seat next and it all gets paint next weekend.
