Yea, I di that too, but I decide on bendin the clip & makin it flip up,,not pullin the cover,, Skrue Thayutt!

There was a lot of gas in the oil for a very long time before I bought the bike so I'm guessing/hoping that's what did it. I do hear some valve noise at high rpms though.

Verslagen came up with a neat trick for when you get your clip oriented wrong -- take a large adjustable wrench and grasp the chrome clutch lever down at the case and move it up in its normal pathway until the clip has clearance to reverse position -- elegant trick that, saves a gasket / teardown.
