front turn signals in the rear
05/20/11 at 14:56:00

can it be done?

i smashed my right rear signal-oops

thinking about mounting the front ones in the back and picking up some different ones for the front.

i do know and understand that the fronts are dual filament and the rears are single. and am able to do my own electrical work.

is it physically possible to use the front housing in the rear is what i'm asking?

ideas? tips? tricks?

thought i saw a post about mounting universal signals into the savage signal mounts...

Rear lights are red by law. Fronts are amber.

rear running lights are red
signals can be amber

check and see if there's a red lens for the signal.

Verslagen, 10-4 on the lights. I have no excuse for that info. That's why we usually read more than one post before acting. And I am not color blind, but very color weak. Dad was and my brother is, too. My apologies to papi. Thanks, vers.

So,... yes,.. you can use fronties in the back... just ignore the running light wires (grey) and connect the other two... (black hot,... black w/white ground)

change 2..

i found my old signals off my gs500..
removed the chrome accent pieces..
bolted them right to the fender.
ran the wires along the with the tail light wires thru the fender..
new connecters..
AND TADA!!!

They dont look too bad. i just want to get this bike on the road.

on a side note. i did attempt to remove the front signals. couldn't find my deep well 10mm for the headlight.

My left rear signal stalk was broken and taped on when I got it 2 years ago. I used a couple pieces of flat bar stock for splints wrapped in elec tape. Priced an exact copy replacement last week for $36 at bike shop. OE is around $50.

I don't think tape and jb weld is gonna revive MY signal.

Saw some other options but I am a certified cheap a$$. And I don't care much for chrome.

Cost me afew bucks for some connectors. And bam!

Round turn signals on a rectangle tail = ugly
Your rectangle turn signals are what Suzuki should have made it.

I would almost go that far and say it looks better than stock. Now I know what to do if I ever bust any of mine. Did really just bolt on and plug and play without any modifications?

NOPE!
previously modded was the tail light circuit and the turn signal circuit. I added butt connectors where appropriate in order to be able to go back to stock. Then I wired in a car trailer signal box with corresponding butt connectors, so I can literally plug and unplug the trailer box without hassle.

the gs500 signals came with the very same butt connectors-wrong sex. I removed the male connectors from the signals and crimpped on female connectors.

The signals have an oval shaped head on the threaded shaft, I hand filed the hole to match the signals, used the original nut from the 500's signals inside the fender.

Hind sight I would put a washer on the inside of the fender. Also a filed washer to match the stud, keep me from fileing the fender by hand with a file.
