You can slide a ring terminal on the screw post like a washer.. Pick then up at my second home for cheap (autozone)

Similar to how someone would wire accessories to the battery.

Have you tried connecting these directly to a battery to check for the function your looking for?

Yes, I finally did that. For me green is indicator gray is running and black/white is ground. They work. After all that work they're not too bright for daylight. I'm such a maroon!

Not too bright, maybe better put is they're not real bright.
