Wheel hub bearing on 4x4 truck
04/18/11 at 11:02:52

My driver side wheel bearing is going bad on me. The truck is my only means of transportation right now. I won't be able to get the parts till tomorrow and fix it Wednesday.... should I keep driving on it? I am getting rubbing when I turn right and some noise when I drive straight. There is no wobble in the tire that I can feel. I only have about 75-100 miles to drive it before I can actually fix it. I just wish I had time to get the stuff today... darnit!

4x4 = CV joints in the front.. right?

I wouldn't be so sure it's a wheel bearing until you can at least jack it up and spin it to see if you can tell where the noise and/or play is coming from.  (Maybe you already did that..)
I'm not a mechanic.. I'm just sayin....

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

Well I have driven with bad CV joints before. With minimal issues.

I have already jacked up the truck and took the wheel off. The friction is coming from the wheel hub. Initially I thought it was the rotor... but its not!

well took the wheel up off... there wasn't a lot of play in it until I actually took everything apart! Good thing I managed to get to it tonight! The hub bearing actually fell apart! No damage to the drive shaft or hug. so 1 new hub assembly and 1 new torque wrench.... DONE SIR DONE! Can't believe how much quieter my truck is... well louder now that I can here the flowmasters better!

what kind of truck?
I know that the Dodges with "unit" bearings tend to chew them up on a regular basis.
