After a long winter
03/09/11 at 15:44:07

Started the 2005 s40 today for the first time since november .Had a battery tender junior on it for an hour a day all winter ,and the battery was reading 12.75 volts. Put on prime, pulled out the choke ,no throttle, and it caught right away .Also filled the tires.Weather is rainy here in CT ,but I'll be riding in the next week. Can't wait!

Our weather will improve soon. I have been able to ride some, just not as
often as I would like. I don't want to rush it and then be down for when the
really nice weather returns.
Enjoy your weather and if you really felt bad, you would send some up here.. Wink  kim

Great advice Justin, I did that already.
Also be sure you check the pressure
in your tires. Mine were low and needed
air in both. I keep a tire guage in my
saddlebags. Smiley kim

Mine has been sitting in the garage since the first wk of Nov and actually had a few cobwebs on it  Sad

Moved it around to be able to ride in the near future and checked the air pressure as well. Both needed about 5-7#. Didn't start it yet, but turning the switch the headlight came on bright as ever even though it was not on a tender at any time since then.

Might be back on 2 wheels as soon as next week  Smiley

Added Note: tried to fire it up at lunch today. Turned it to prime and was able to watch the gas flow down to the carb  Shocked thanks to the clear fuel line that I put on last year. When I hit the button, nothing... tried again, still nothing... remembered that I left it parked in 1st  Embarrassed so I shifted it to N and it cranked right over, but didn't have enough juice to light it up. Guess I'll have to put it on the charger and try again tomorrow.

In NY too here, snow has all melted by the city. Bought an oil filter and a spark plug, battery still on a tender for a few months now. Waiting for a warmer weekend and I'll try to do the work and fire it up. My first oil change on that bike, wish me luck Smiley

Well, I put it on the charger Sat morning and about an hour later when I went to check on it I tried to start it again. This time it came to life and put a smile back on my face.  Grin Pulled it off the charger and proceeded to wash off the cobwebs and clean it up from winter storage. Ran it around the block, but the city hasn't swept the sand off the streets from the winter maintenance so it made for interesting stops, skids and all  Shocked Maybe this next week I will be able to really get out and ride it again.

Yea, oil is very easy compared to some other bikes I've had in the past. I simplified the spark plug change also, I did that mod where only one bolt is used on the header accent. Gave me a chance to see how my bike performs by looking at the old plug and it was surprisingly clean. Thank you Smiley
