Oil Pressure Gauge
02/22/11 at 14:16:52

Has anyone ever installed an oil pressure guage?  If so, where can I tap into an oil galley?

Thanks,

The port pointing foreward is the pressure test port.

For cold weather starting, when the oil is cold and thicker making the pump get higher pressures,  you need a gauge at least 60 psig.

Or,  what I eventually did is put a small valve on the line (at the gauge) and shut off the line when it was below about 60 deg F.   When the engine warmed up, I would reach over the top and turn the valve to the on position.

Not really necessary on a engine of this type with ball and roller bearings which don't rely on high oil pressure like a plain bearing engine. Mind you if your worried about running low or your pump packing up it would give peace of mind.

Actually, with the cam floating on an oil film on an aluminum journal, it is a bit of a concern.
