E-3 Spark plugs
02/05/11 at 14:53:43

Has anyone tried these plugs in their bike. I put them in a car and I did notice a small power difference along with a little better fuel mileage. Just wonder if anyone else has tried these plugs and what was their impression.

They'd have to.  I wouldn't think most people would know where to start on gapping these things.  I have one in my snowblower and they have a forked electrode that is off from the igntion electrode so the spark i'm guessing forks in two at a 45* angle in two directions.

So if you wanted a spark gap of say 30 thousands you'd need to gap the plug so the electrodes would be that far away.  This would mean that you'd have to measure the distane between the electrode ends and divid by two to get one side of the triangle then with the long side of the triangle being 30 you'd have to calculate the length of the final side for your gapping tool.  By use of pathagrian theorum (c^2=a^2+b^2).  Not a standard procedure i'm sure.

Sorry, the question was were they Pre Gapped. My Hillbilly cousins teeth were.
IOW, no one knocked any out,, he didnt lose any, he just had these Biggo Hillbilly gaps in his teeth.. hence Pre Gapped,,

I hope that helps!

Well it arrived today.  And was a good time to change the plug.
Regapped it to .035", spec said it should be .040" for the HD, it was more like .032"
Old one came out with one plug wrench and the new one went in with another.  I'll need a new wrench for the tool kit.
Started right up.

One and a half round trips later and I'm happy with the plug so far.
Compared to the 1 year old dirty plug, it gave me 5 miles extra speed before I ran into traffic half way up my test hill.   Grin

NGK iridium plugs....never wear out and easy to clean. Had E3's in my sporty. Hoped it would help fix a slight rich condition....it didn't. So I decided to try the iridium plugs after seeing most of the hot bikes running them. talk about a clean burn!
