cam adjuster fix as easy as fixing oil leak?

I've got a '97.  With the help of the guides here, my son fixed the
"typical" savage oil leak.....a couple years ago.

Tell me, if he could do that, do you think he'd be able to fix the cam adjuster?

Is it hella tough, complicated, etc., or fairly simple and straight forward (given that no project is that simple)?

What price do you think I would pay for this fix at the shop?
I am sure I'd need to pay my son something.

Thank you for your help,
Undecided

If your son fixed the plug leak for you, he should be able to handle the cam chain.

The hardest part about it is timing the cam to the crank.  If you can understand our instructions we've addressed how to time it and what if you're off 1 tooth.

Its not hard. Just tedious. Clean,, get stuff clean,,sealing up the head cover is a hassle, but not technically difficult. Its all straightforward. Making DANG certain the piston stays at TDC while the cam is going in matters. & Getting the clutch cable loop in the UP position as the clutch cover goes on is important. Nothing about the job is technically difficult. If mileage is pretty high on it, youd likely be ahead to change the chain giudes, if not both, then the rear one is easy enough. Recommend the Verslavy on the cam chain adjuster.
Heck, if mileage isnt too high, you mite be able to just add the Verslavy mod & ride.

Versy, make sure that guy doesnt spend a ton & do a lot of work when he would be okay for another season or two by just installing your modified adjuster,, okay?
