But the best butchering happened when I was in the U.S. Air Force in Turkey.  There was a little donkey that who came up to people the fence to get cigaretts -- not to smoke, but to eat.  Once the owner was there and we asked it's name.  "Edna Ashack -- ashack is the Turkish word for an Ass."  Hence my nickname.

I didn't mind the name, but friends sometimes had problems.  Beaulieau and I where in Gold Street in Izmir.  I was about 50 feet away when he saw something and asked me, "Hey, AShack!"  About 100 Turks turned to see whom he was calling an jackass.  I didn't know him, I quietly faded out.
