Winter Solstice Ride
12/22/10 at 08:25:18

Yesterday was the shortest day of the year, so it seemed like a great time for a ride (When isn't it?)  I went on a 165 mile ride through the rolling cattle country around Tucson, stopped in Patagonia for one of the best hamburgers on the planet, and meandered along a couple of rivers, and by some copper mines.  Aside from a run of about fifteen miles along the freeway from Nogales to Arivaca, I probably only saw about two dozen cars (I don't count the Boarder Patrol vehicles, because they are everywhere.) Life is good.

So  nice Gerald that you were able to take this ride. Thank you for sharing it as many of us aren't able to ride now.
And with yesterday being the shortest day of the year, means each day we will gain a few seconds turning into mins into hours of daylight for more riding enjoyment. Smiley kim

Didn't look at the calendar to realize it was a special day, but did drive the bagger yesterday by myself to get a special tool for the Kawasaki MULE 550 I working on, and a couple other errands. Sure was nice. Chemo was early this morning,8AM an hour away so I trucked it. We are being threatened with what is left of the SoCal rain today and tonight, but should be nice again tomorrow. I hope so as I'd like to be able to say I got to ride on Christmas. KimChris has been deluged with yukky weather and the precipitation is solid over where we live in the summer. Only a URAL 2WD sidecar or ROKON AWD would work there. Glad to be here in San Tan Valley, AZ Max

I may not get a ride in on Christmas, judging by the weather outside, but I did at least get the bike out Tuesday to run down to the bookstore.  Took the loooong way home on the backroads, looking for cool Xmas light displays.  There were some nice ones! Cool
