the bike you are looking at is just so ordinary looking.

it is ordinary, I can fit on it though, and hey, I've had a S-40, now I have and S-50 so why not round it out with an S-83  Tongue

Looks similar to a Kawa Vulcan. I like it. If you like it and can afford it without tearing up the household, go for it.  Cool

S40 = 40 cubic inches (approx) = 652cc
S50 = 50 cubic inches (approx) = 805cc
S83 = 83 cubic inches (approx) = 1360cc

No it isn't ... changing oil/filer on the S50 & 83's is slightly easier than doing same on the LS650 (spin-on filter on the 2 V-twin Bikes) ... getting the battery in/out is another matter Roll Eyes ... adjusting valves or changing the air filters is a PITA! The LS is MUCH easier in those regards!
Fans of the VS1400/S83 seem to love it unconditionally though for it's Old Skool, No Frills look to its abundant, pull-your-arms-out-of-their-sockets torque!

the values on the S-83 have hydrualic lifters so I don't have to adjust them right?   but yeah, the battery on the S-50 and S-83 is a PITA, I think the battery door on my S-50 is stuck, I tried to get it out one time and it didn't drop open . . .  but the battery was new when I bought it.  and the S- styling has kinda grown on me, so I like it more and more now. and the damaged tank means I get to find a used one and paint it Smiley

I did not see the milage listed but perhaps just missed it.
but $2900 ...  ? ?  dang, that pert cheap for 2 Savage cylinders on one bike !

I like the S83 because it has the cubes and weighs way less than any HD of the same size.

For that size engine, it is compact, light, and runs like a bat outta hell.

You could be right about that, I've never owned an S83 ... did briefly own an S50 and I know that there are some similarities and some differences (besides displacement) between the 2 models ... you do have to adjust the valves on the VS800 though. The S83 is air/oil cooled whereas the S50 is liquid cooled, which is one of the differences ...
