Mostly for you Lupo,but I truly loved those little bikes with the outside flywheel, one year on the Island If I recall they came in 1 2 3 in the 250cc class on that very bike, picture below,it was back in the 60s.

They built a wind tunnel back when it was only theory. Besides wins at Daytona they have 11 wins at The Isle of Mann, 8 world championships and 6 constructor cups. Moto Guzzi has been in production in Mondello del Lario, Italy since 1921. This makes them the second oldest motorcycle company continuously in production in the world. Harley Davidson started in 1903.

The V8 did very well but for some reason it was only raced a couple of times.  It is possible that it did not handle well enough to be considered safe.
The engine however was ferocious for only being 500cc.
