Found a 1996 in Torrance
09/03/10 at 07:57:30

Spotted another Savage in Southwest Torrance at the hospital.  It's a weathered bike.

The passenger pegs were, ah, interesting.  And I told Ms.Paladin that I was interested in the floorboards.  I mentioned that when I went on tour my feet got more sore than my butt.

Did leave a note for the rider, maybe they will join....

Yep!  Forgot to mention, 33,000+ miles -- probably a city bike.

Just a few days ago, I scooted by a newb on a rat bike in traffic.
At least I think he was a newb cause he was parked like all the other cagers doing there best to spin their wheels getting nowhere.
The glimpse between the cages was all that I was afforded, but it looked similar to that.

How did you find that on the street? Other than at a dealers showroom I've only seen 2 others here in So. Cal. forever. Saw one in for service at Malcome Smiths in Riverside about 5 years ago, and saw one in Upland 6 or so months ago. I was wondering if the Savage/S40 was banned in So. Cal. Wink. Anybody know know if Thumprat has any cousins out this way?. Ride safe, far, and often---Luke

I've seen at least 4 more in my area.
one on route 66, 2 on the freeway, 1 more on the street.
it's hard to tell them apart as they are all black.
at least 3 are different, one new looking, one rat, one loud rat.

1 in west covina, 1 pasadena, 1 gets off the 21o at rosemead.

Then there's me, if you see a red blur, that's me.  send up a flare or by the time I see you and recognize the savage, you'll be a faint memory... dam, another black one....   Huh

The closest to me is 3 blocks away.In early May I saw a S40 and a girl polishing it I stop on my bicycle and talked to her.She is new in town and new to bikes her husband has a bike.I go pass every day and see the bike in the garage,it don't look like its moved,I don't think she is riding it,if I see her again I will stop and talk to her if the bike is outside. She looked about 35 years old.

I live in Quartzs Hill  and work in Lancaster about 9 miles from home I've seen a few (four or five) around here in the last year just going back and forth to work not to mention the one I saw a few weeks ago in one of our local canyons. Maybe the folks in the high desert are cooler than you low landers or maybe you all come up here to ride. Could be both.
