I'm using whatever came stock in it, with nearly 7000 miles on it. I haven't even pulled it out to look. It starts and runs just fine, and the gas mileage is still normal (check on Fuelly logo in my signature). Maybe, at the next valve adjustment, I'll pull it out and check the gap. With electronic ignition and unleaded gas, spark plugs last a LONG time.

I run that plug in a 7 heat range.

However, I live at 6500' ASL and rarely leave the city limits on my Savage.

YMMV!

Never trust an engineer and what they use stock, cost and effect.
Cheapest cost with the best effect. Theres always better.
THATS why i asked what everyone is useing currently...lol
Kinda hopeing lancer and the other perfomance mech heads will chime in with their preferances. Grin

I guess I should have clarified one point - mine has in it whatever was in it when I got it (2900 miles, now almost 7000), which may not be stock.  Since I recently discovered that the plug over my mixture screw has been removed, I now assume the PO did some work to the bike, so I guess its possible that the spark plug is not stock, but I doubt it.  In essence, I've never looked at the plug.  As long as I'm not experiencing any problems that might be related to it, I'm not messin' with it!

Champion 809/RA6HC about 2 bucks at my local autoparts store. Like Serowbot says works great. I know these thing last a long time but for 2 bucks I have no intention of putting the tank back on a used spark plug.

NGK IRIDIUM                  DPR8EIX-9

I tend to think it has worked better in my machine but it is pretty subjective; can't really nail it down with hard facts
I am much to hard on the throttle to judge it by milage

I'm still running the one I got from you a couple of years ago. 6,000 miles since then. Had it out a couple of weeks ago when I did the valves, and didn't look much different than when I got it. What do you think, is it time for a new one or not?
