So a few days ago while I had the carb open, I went to do a little spacer mod, not quite half at first, but thereabouts, and I stripped one of those two darn screws to get to the spacer!!! I am a freakin idiot!! anyway, not sure where to go from here. Can I adequately tune this carb without messing with that spacer?
I am running a k&n drop in and a dyna exhaust but will soon be putting on a baffled drag pipe with heat wrap.
I have no problem messing with the jets but will i be missing something in the tune, and if so...how the **** do i mess with that screw to get to the spacer?

you need this small impact driver (HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS)
for those tiny screws
see the long slim phillips head bit on the right ? that's the one to use
I set the slide on the top of a vise with the needle sticking down through a slight space between the vise jaws
then you can tap gently but firmly and OUT THEY COME !

If youll get a pin punch, you can reach down in there & drive the "meat" of that screw back in place, then put the driver Lancer is sayin to use in there & seat it carefully, & smack the thing smartly, a quick tap, not a "Ill drive this thing thru the floor" shot.

the screw got stripped trying to get it out. that's why i wasn't able to get to the spacer. the screw is in there good and now with very little head on it

I use a chisel at the side of the screw in the right direction to losen or a vice grip on stripped screws. Or use a hacksaw to cut a straight drive in it and use a flathead.

You guys haven't the clue of what he's talking about do you. these are the tiny ass screws in the bottom of the slide. you ain't getting in there with none of that.
try the smallest, sharpest cross head driver like lancer says and hope it cuts into it. might want to hit the bottom with some penetrating oil too.

If all else fails, you can drill the screw out with a left hand drill bit sized a bit smaller than the shank of the screw (it will bite into the shank when the head is about gone and spin the screw threads out).
You can buy left hand drill bit sets at Harbor Freight for less than $15.
This is something you can actually do in the space you have after all the other methods listed above don't work out for you.

Yep, he's screwed (not a pun!). Get them out however you can. I replaced mine with 2 itsy bitsy screws that are used to hold hard drives into computer chassis'...they were a perfect fit.
When I stripped the head on mine I just used penetrating oil and a phillips that matched the head of the other screw, put as much weight on it as I could and turned VERY slowly...it (luckily) broke free...I was sweatin'

Ok, heres what will work,....
The screw is very tight only because the head is still on it holding pressure on the threads,....right ??
So get your Dremel tool w/ a little round stone, or little cutting wheel, (extended shank if necessary) and grind the head off the screw. The screw is now loose, and there will be enough sticking out to get your needle nose plyers on it and turn it out. Garanteed ! even tho I haven't done it.
Is the other screw out ?
If it ain't, get a brand new flips screwdriver, and get your heavweight buddy over there to put all his weight into that screwdriver !
Or better yet, get the little impact driver above.

i went to HF and got the only impact driver they had there. it was 6.99 and has a red handle. it seems kind of large for the task at hand and the tip inserts are larger than regular screwdriver bits. i havent tried it yet cause i'm waiting on a float needle and seat thingy before i pull the carb again. cleaning that part didnt work out...i left my fuel on again and flooded the bike. part is in the mail though

Thought we was talkin' 'bout the screws on the top of the carb(#2) to get to the needle spacer(#8).. ya can get to them with a hacksaw or a chisel.. just not while it's still on the bike..
