Was Bounce for glory photographed at Port Townsend a few years ago?
I saw it compete in the Kinetic skulpture race.

The blue scoort was nice, then the streamliner,, wowzaas,, nice stuff.
I enjoyed that bunch O pics, thanks.

Ohh yea, 1st pic. WAAAy too much rolling resistance with all that rubber on the road. I wouldnt want anything to do w/ that thing.

You would be even less impressed if you saw it in a video.
The rear axle is eccentricly located.
With the axle in the one or two oclock position you jump down on the floorboard and as the axle moves to the six oclock position the vehicle rolls forward. Hop up to unweight as the axle move around to the one oclock position again and com down with your weight to repeat the cycle.
Hench the human body becomes the piston that powers it.
I have seen it achieve about 7 MPH while exhausting the rider.
The reason for the enormus tires is so that it will float when ridden into the bay.

Thats clearly a mistake.
the tires should be replaced immediately with something much smaller & then it should be ridden into the bay & left forever.

Loved that last pic, and saved it.  I always liked reading that cartoon (Calvin & Hobbes) in the Sunday comics as a kid, when I could come by them.

As part of the competition it was ridden into th bay and out around a marker about 200 yards out. then back onto shore.
google kinetic skulpture for some far more outlandish vehicles.

Holy Cow! I went & found a video of "The thinking chair". Looks like the kind of stuff Id build. Only, I wouldnt have thot to build a worm gear & drive the way he did. Thats clever as heck. I use wire a lot, but it never occured to me to build a ring gear like that, or a worm gear, just cool stuff. thanks.

Every now and then. Here is one of my brain farts. It started as a block of scrap steel and some brass and bronze.  I cut away everything that didn't look like a steam engine.  It works fine.

Beautiful!

The outside rods run valves to control the pressure to the pistons?
You running that on air?
