Sound from Carb
07/06/10 at 20:13:57
I thought the squeak/chirp was coming from rear wheel. I noticed it only comes when I am in 1st or 2nd gear when I gas it. It sounds like its coming from the carb. The sound is pretty continuous when I gas it. It stops when I let off the gas. I don't think its the belt... no sound while rolling when I don't gas.
Any advice on where to look first?

...carb's not that musical...
I still say it's the belt squeaking across the front pulley, or the pulley nut is loose... crank it down with a 32mm socket,(don't trust that little washer crimp, it can still loosen)...
Jack the back tire off the ground, and spin the wheel by hand... you'll hear it...

You can isolate the noise. LUBE the belt.Wax, no oil. IF the noise goes away, or changes, THEN you know its the belt. If it doesnt go away or change, LOOK Elsewhere.
