You can buy a new 2004 bar for about $80. Ronayers has it listed for $76 but I'm sure there are members here that have one sitting on a shelf somewhere. I've got one but shipping could be expensive. Where are you located?
PS: Have you checked the Marketplace for parts?

Thanks for the quick reply!
Yes, I have, but the dealer says that there are so many parts, that I could not possibly get them myself. He quoted me about $800 parts/labor for the job, telling me that cables need to be changed etc b/c of the length difference. I was wondering if anyone did this job themselves, and if they still had a parts list, etc. At least I could price out all the parts, and saave money on that. I'm on Long Island.

i'm guessing you got the drag bar, cables are about 1" shorter.
if you reroute them a little they'll stretch.
and as far as buckhorns go, I got a couple hanging from the rafters.
and fer $80 they'll go anywhere. but I bet you can get some local to you.
try the independent shops, all you want is a harley bar w/o the dimples.
see what they got, might fit you better.

Personally, I really like the stock HD Dyna bars. You can pick them up really cheap, and they go right on with no cable changes.

I can't imagine what the dealer would swap out for $800. I would stay away from them.

Celia, I bought an HD set on Ebay for less than $20. Had to do away with the risers, and re-route some cables, but worked out fine. Changing the grips and all the stuff on the bars is easy too, just take your time and take things apart slowly.
This is my '06:

i bought a 1996 that had a 4" rise and 6" pull back......took them off and put on the factory original 7" rise and 11" pull back did not have to change anything or re-route.....I suspect at some point the 7/11 was changed tot he 4/6 so the cables were not an issue.....all this said if you want my 4/6 handle bars for $28 shipped (paypal fees and shipping included) let me know - they are in excellent condition and no rust....

Thank you, guys.. I'm going to look around for a local bike shop and see if I can begin a working relationship with someone who will give me some quotes on installation and opinions on the right bars to suit me/bike. You've given me fine advice to start from. Thanks!

Stimpy,
I have been riding these boards for some months, and haven't noticed any particular vibration from them.
