K & N

I'm putting a K & N air filter on my 07. I'm told it may need rejetting or carb adjustment. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?

The bike has already been rejetted for the dyna muffler....

def need to retune the carb, might have to rejet depending on how lean it gets.  search for carb tuning and it will all make sense.  whats it got in there now

Idle would not have to be touched, as I'm positive the OEM filter has zero restriction at idle. And from what little I know about the OEM air filter, I'm quite sure it has little.... to no restriction at mid throttle/crusing also. If the OEM filter does have restriction at WOT, and I'm not saying it does....or how much, but then of course it will run leaner, but only at WOT. If it has been main jetted for the Dana, it may not need anything. In short,.....have evidence of running lean before re jetting !

I can promise you that there is more to that story.
There is no way that changing to a less restrictive air filter would make any engine run that bad,....let alone make these bikes unridable.

But if you really believe that, so be it.

Is it the panel type of K&N air filter (that uses the stock airbox)?

That should be prove to you your not getting hardly any more air with a K and N,I've used them in bikes and cars and could see no improvement in performance.

I agree, I've never seen a performance improvement.

I like 'em because I can go so long between cleanings.  I had one on my '81 GL1100 for over 90,000 miles and ended up selling the bike before I ever cleaned it.

Talk about bang for your buck!    Smiley
