Gulp!,...  You said the forbidden word...

oil.... Huh...    Grin Grin Grin...

Safest, most universally excepted choice...
... any name brand quality motorcycle specific oil,.. 10w-40 or 10/20w-50...
Really?... any 10w40 oil is fine.... as long as it's not labeled, "fuel saving"...

Do a search for past oil threads for details,... there's a million of them...

Whoo hooo!!! oil wars. Just make sure it's not the oil with the enviro something rating. It makes the clutch slip. I'm sure someone can enlighten us with the proper name.

I like Rotella T 15-40. Its sold as a diesel engine oil. Diesels take a pounding & run many hundred  thousand miles.

I havent looked, but I heard Rotalla T 15-40 has been tested & rebadged AS a motorcycle oil recently. Not due to a change of formulation, but because it is & has been formulated so that it passes the test.
To be clear, it isnt in a jug that say
"I am a motorcycle oil", but hasd the same symbols & stuff on the jug that motorcycle oils have. Just so happens, its also so good of an oil that diesel engines, you know, the ones that crush their bearings so as they compress the fuel/air mixture so hard that it ignites, run for hundreds of thousands of miles,

That's the spirit!

grtscot, you just can't go wrong with whatever oil Suzuki recommends. If you want to experiment or alternate - anything that is not "energy conserving", "super teflon enhanced", "magnetic mollecular bla bla" is good.

The Rotella 15-40 synthetic carries the JASO certification for wet clutch use. It's not listed as a "motorcycle oil" but it works just fine and will not cause clutch issues. Best part is, it's less than 1/2 the cost of a sythetic "motorcycle" oil. I can get it for about $20/gal around here and that's almost enough for 3 oil changes on the wifes S40 or 1 on my GSXR.

5w40 Rotella Synthetic in the big blue jug for $20 is what I use.

It and the white jug Rotella dino 15w40 have a long history on many different motorcycle boards as being very good, trouble free and relatively inexpensive bike oils.

Yes, the stuff is primarily sold as diesel truck oil, but when you check the bottle for the certifications it is certified as JASO and as such is a bike oil just like the rest of them.

It just costs a whole lot less $$$.

======================

(and Bill, I know you like your oil wars -- but when you write extra ordinary and fully unsubstantiated claims for your Klotz oil having magical properties or having been invented way back when (when it was only two stroke oil back then) just understand that nobody is gonna call you on it because nobody really cares that much about it any more.

If Verslagen verifies that Klotz works better in his bike later on this summer then we will crown it THE Supreme Savage Oil, until then it is merely another good but extremely expensive Savage oil.

And who knows, maybe Walmart will stock it then)

I know its all about short term money,Being I'm planning on being around a while I think about the long term,Thats why I pay more for a racing oil, the engine will last longer runs cooler, more horsepower, better mileage.Klotz Mx4 in the BLACK BOTTLE.
