Speed traps?

I've noticed a couple of stretches of road here locally where one side of the roadway has one speed limit while the opposing lane has another. Two lane blacktop out in unincorporated areas. One has a posted speed of 50 in the southbound lane and 45 in the northbound lane. Another has 40 going east but the west bound side is 45. And the one area that I ride through almost every trip into work has 45 on the west bound side but only 25 for the east bound lane. I haven't gotten a ticket in any of these areas, but I contacted the counties to ask why the differences.

Nobody knows.

When in doubt, default to the higher posted speed then add 20 mph!

Maybe the sign guy used up all his 45's on the trip out and only had 25's left for the trip back... Huh...

I saw that here too. Some guy told me it's so traffic heading out of town can start speeding up, and inbound traffic will start slowing down...who knows.

speeding up?? Whole 5mph?

They have a sign in Croatia, going across a narrow bridge in Ston, on the way to Dubrovnik - it reads 10km/h. My speedo starts moving at 20... They'da make a fortune if they put a radar gun there...

Where I used to live, the hwy speed was 55 and you came down hill to a small town where the speed suddenly dropped to 35.

I never got caught yet others were not as fortunate...
