Awesome Sunday weather turns into bad ride

Well, unlike most days here in southwest Germany, we finally had some nice weather, so what would any normal rider do? Go ride. I only rode for about 15 minutes down a normal twisty stretch that is a normal ride for me, when I came out of a turn and there was about 10 bikes coming from the other direction. Then for some reason one of the bikes came over the line into my lane and clipped my left peg.

Now I am put up in the hospital with 7 fractures and one completely destroyed knuckle on my fourth toe. They did an x-ray and a CT scan and said I will need surgery and will be in the hospital for about 2-3 weeks then another 3 or so months before I can walk normal again.

One thing I have to admit is German bikers look out for each other. There was 4 different groups that stopped to make sure I was alright or to lend a hand to the paramedics. Now I just need to heal so I can get a little riding done this year.

Bent the shifter and tore off the peg, they also said there is a few scratches, but I have not seen it yet. I live outside of Bitburg. The accident was on the notorious B-50. I was under the impression that Germany has rather strict traffic laws. Did you manage to talk with the other guy or at least get his plate #? The incident is obviously the fault of the other rider for not maintaining control of his vehicle and crossing lanes. Id try my hardest to get his insurance to cover any and all medical costs and damamge.

Did the other rider go down, too? If so, what was the extent of his (or her) injuries? A collision between two motorcycles usually takes both of them down. You may not know, but were there circumstances such as another rider in the group moving in such a way as to force the rider who hit you to move into your lane?

Luckily I am in the military so I don't have to worry about medical bills. As for the other guy, he is from Belgium and has one fractured toe. They patched him up and sent him on his way. As for German laws, they are extremely strict. When I first moved here they held a day long class just to go over all the laws. There was Polizie, which are german police, as well as Air Force security forces personnel that showed up, so all pertinent info was taken.

I am not sure who they are saying is at fault or if there were any other extenuating circumstances for the other rider, I will just have to wait and see. I attached a pic of me and the kid in the hospital.
