You done worn out ANOTHER bike tire?

    Wow .....

So what is it that you need help with?   Moral support and bring my big spoon set with me?

You want me to come up a day early and help wrassle that big arsed tire with you?  That would give us part of a spare day on Tuesday for Awshit!! to happen and to get past it.

Or at least get past the bleeding part before Lancer shows up to tease us.

Hurry up = mess up

(we done proved that previously, right?)

Hey 'Slagen, next year you can come up a week early and help Lancer put Rex back together again, then you can come up and help Toymaker rotate his tires.

(got to rotate those durn car tires regularly to get the maximum promised mileage, it's recommended by all the big car tire manufacturers anyway)

...  but me, I am jest too durn lazy to do it so I jest let the engine and the drive belt do it for me ...    Grin

Isn't rotating them what causes the lost mileage?   Grin

Naw, rotate them too much and you lose some de rubbers due to interstatial bond separations due to the clitoris effect.

You know, rub it too hard and woopsy, de friction she builds up de heat and she goes all squalling apeshit on you and de stiction she jest rip off de rubber ....

    sssssswock

       ouchie !!!

          Roll Eyes

oops honey, de rubber she come off again ....

anyhow, that's Lancer's story and he's a stickin' to it by golly

I'm actually looking into sealing the rim and not only going darkside, but tubeless.

So there is more going on for me.

How do Dyna beads work if you have a bulge in a tire making it heavy at the bulge?

I know how them simple old lead weights work ....

Also, if you seal the spoked rim then you in essence glue the spoke nuts in place.  Should you ever need to tune the spokes to true the wheel it can get tough to do --- also you will break the seal job fer shure.

True the wheel before gluing the spokes ....

The sealing process is as follows.

Sand the "gully" where the spokes are with big grit sandpaper so that the sealer will stick.

Put one of these for the valve stem

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G1954

Then
those dots that are used as price stickers cover the spokes...then aluminum tape (adhesive backed) over the dots.

Then use a silicon sealer and cover the aluminum tape with atleast a 1/8" layer of sealer.  Roll the wheel on a pipe or axle to find the heavy spot (most likely where the stem is) and apply more sealer to balance out the wheel.  Let cure for several days then you are good to go.

This is NOT my idea, I have scrounged this from the vulcan site.

Sounds better than some systems I have read about -- spokes should still be able to turn without breaking the seal.

=========================

OK, tube is maybe better.   Follow me on this .....

You have to fight to pop the bead on the tire.   90 psi is not unusual.

With no tube, how are you going to get there?

If the catywampus bead won't seal, you got no pressure build up at all.

Without pressure you got no way to make the bead seal, much less pop.

Without a tube you could maybe possibly get caught twixt the rock and the hard spot and jest sit there hissing ....

Car tires get past this with a massive air blast shot at the bead/rim junction by a ring of large nozzles and a big air bottle (trick is built into the tire machine)

You could use Justin's trick of starting fluid and the thrown match ....
