The crush casket between the header pipe and muffler has a small taper on one side.  Does this taper go to the muffler or header pipe side?  If it comes to replacing the cam chain, one of you will be receiving a large heavy box. Smiley Smiley

The hassle of working in the small area up on top was less ( IMO) than pulling the engine. I did block it kinda level & sucked  the oil outta the cam splash area & cleaned the head up good w/o that stuff up there to drag onto my work. Then put the Goo down & thats a bit of a trick, getting it thin & even. I carefull put some new oil back in, not to fill it, just Sometyhing so it wasnt running dry too long. I guess some Build Grease on the cam lobes would have done it better..

Maybe a first timer would come out ahead to pull it, IDK,, its a close call..

Finished tentioner replacement job.  Tried adjusting the clutch according to Clymer but on release the clutch lever is almost all the way out before engaging the gears.  I;m sure there is a trick to correct this.....I just don't know what it is.  After messing with the valves and the other wrenching I was truly surprised she fired right up.

Thanks

very common problem, in fact I think we talked someone thru it yesterday.

Most likely one of the plates is jammed, take apart shift the plates around, make sure the wave washer is seated right, check the oil pump gear put back together.
